I’m pleased with my Mac. It’s not powerful, even though it’s sporting more horsepower then my XP machine it really doesn’t come close to performance. It’s sleek, portable and does what I need it to do. I’m enjoying some of the OSX features but I can’t say that I wet my pants over them.
I have run into the problem of the mac uttering a random phrase. At first I couldn’t figure out if I had left some media on somewhere, now I’m fairly certain that I haven’t. The thing is that I can’t find any help. No search on the Mac support site reveals anything close to this. Support there seems to be people asking questions that would have been answered had the RTFM! That being said I was going to post my problem and see if the mac geeks could figure it out. Except I can’t. You see I need my “mac ID” which I don’t know. Apparently I registered for an ID but my mailbox says differently. Google must have some deep seeded hatred for Apple and deleted my mail.
I decided if this was the hoop that I would have to jump through to get my question answered then, well I’d do it. So off to recover my ID. First go round I get slightly confused because I click on “I forgot my ID” and it seem to want me to change my password. Thinking perhaps that Apple is strict on security and that my password would have to be changed for recovery I did. I awaited my email. When it arrived it informed me that my password had been changed. Which is a great relief. Except I still don’t know the ID. Back to the Apple page and well it still bring me to the change password area. No, no, no see I know the password now. What I need to do, and what I’ve been clicking and navigating on your website is the ID recovery. Why doesn’t this work?!
I’m not saying I don’t have these problems on Windows. I do occasionally have something goofy happen. Like last night VLC decided that it couldn’t play non embedded, non downloaded WMV. So I had to make sure that it would default to Windows Media Player in these instances. I had no idea how I would go about this task. Well, ok I had a vague idea. A quick search on google though found a perfect walk-through. Was the problem annoying yes, is it fixed you betcha.
Back on the mac I’m at a standstill. I can’t find any similar problem with a search, I can’t get help from Apple support because I don’t have my ID. Though I admit there are other ways besides the one I tried to get help. So now I’m stuck with a machine that randomly utters a phrase. Though I think it says “The following story in provided” which is much better then it blaring out “I like hot anal sex.” You have to look on the bright side.
