Ethics professor brings up Occam’s Razor. When met with blank stares from the class he goes on to explain it. Explain it in terms so utterly unnecessary that not only do I think that perhaps I have been wrong about the meaning of the phrase but perhaps he’s not sure himself. To the best of my recollection this is what he just said;
It’s the principle which states that the explanation of a hypothesis. or phenomenon in lieu or a laboratory setting, of a of any phenomenon, observation or theory should endeavor to make as limited as possible the assumptions or complexity thus eliminating those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory.
The class does a collective huh? I raise my hand.
Prof: Yes
Me: In other words all things equal the simplest explination or solution is prefered.
Prof: Exactly!
Class does a collective “Ahhhhhhhhh!”
